Manolette R. Roque, MD, MBA, FPAO
Dr. Manolette Roque is a prominent ophthalmologist in Metro Manila whose practice includes general ophthalmology and cataract surgery with subspecialty work in uveitis and ocular immunology, cornea and external disease, and refractive surgery. Together with his team who specializes in Cataract and Refractive Surgery, External Diseases and Cornea, Glaucoma, Retina and Vitreous, Ocular Inflammation and Uveitis, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Ocular Genetics, Low Vision Rehabilitation, and Eye Plastics and Orbit, Dr. Roque oversees a practice spanning four clinics spread over Metro Manila.
His credentials include memberships from renowned international and local professional organizations such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), American Uveitis Society (AUS), International Ocular Inflammation Society (IOIS), American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives (AAOE), American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA), Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology (PAO), and Philippine Medical Association (PMA). Dr. Roque has written numerous chapters for international textbooks, including Current Ocular Therapy, Laser in-situ keratomileusis: LASIK, and Diagnosis and Treatment of Uveitis. He has published over 25 manuscripts in international peer-reviewed journals, including Ophthalmology, Cornea, Clinical Dermatology, and eMedicine.
Dr. Roque obtained his medical degree at the University of the Philippines Manila through the prestigious 7-year INTARMED program. He trained in ophthalmology at the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital and went on to the Harvard Medical School's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary for fellowship training in Ocular Immunology and Uveitis and observership in Cornea and Refractive Surgery. He is certified by the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology. He also has a Masters Degree in Business Administration in Health from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business.
Dr. Roque practices at Asian Hospital and Medical Center and St. Luke's Medical Center, and is affiliated with numerous hospitals and eye centers in Metro Manila and is an active member of his specialty and subspecialty organizations. Among his current positions are head of the Uveitis Section of the Asian Hospital and Medical Center's Department of Ophthalmology, co-chair of the Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology (PAO) Research Committee and Director and Secretary of the Philippine Ocular Inflammation Society (POIS). He is also a reviewer of the Philippine Journal of Ophthalmology (PJO) and Asian Journal of Ophthalmology (AJO).
